EDUCATION POLICY COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Laurie Pryor, Chair of the Committee on Education Policy, called the meeting to order at 3:02 PM on March 15, 2023 in Room 120 of the Capitol.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Youakim moved to approve the minutes from March 14, 2023. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF2685 (Hornstein); Holocaust and genocide education required in social studies curriculum for middle and high school students, Holocaust and Genocide Education Task Force created, report required, and money appropriated.

Vice Chair Hill moved that HF2685 be re-referred to the committee on Education Finance.

Chair Pryor moved the A23-0061 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Hornstein presented HF2685 as amended.

Vice Chair Hill renewed the motion that HF2685 as amended be re-referred to the committee on Education Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF2206 (Urdahl); Civics course required as graduation requirement.

Rep. Urdahl moved that HF2206 be laid over for further consideration.

Rep. Urdahl moved the H2206DE2 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Testimony on HF 2206 as amended.

Rep. Urdahl renewed the motion that HF2206 as amended be laid over for further consideration. The bill was laid over.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:53 pm.
