MINUTES

Representative Jim Davnie, Chair of the Education Finance Committee, called the virtual meeting to order at 10:30am on February 23, 2022 pursuant to House rule 10.01. The meeting was broadcast via Zoom and House Public Information Services.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Rep. Xiong moved that the minutes from February 22, 2022 be approved. Motion prevailed.

Presentation relating to student achievement at the beginning of the 2021/2022 school year provided by the Center for School and Student Progress.

HF 3088 (Rep. Acomb) – Minnesota Math Corps enhanced funding made permanent.

Rep. Wolgamott moved that HF 3088 be presented before the committee; be laid over for further consideration and possible inclusion in a future omnibus bill.

Rep. Acomb presented HF 3088.

Rep. Wolgamott renewed his motion to lay over HF 3088 for possible inclusion or for further consideration at a later date.

HF 3300 (Rep. Edelson) – Language Essentials for Teaching of Reading and Spelling grant funding.

Rep. Xiong moved that HF 3300 be presented before the committee; be laid over for further consideration and possible inclusion in a future omnibus bill.
Rep. Edelson presented HF 3300.
Rep. Xiong renewed the motion that HF 3300 be laid over for possible inclusion or for further consideration at a later date.

HF 3344 (Rep. Wolgamott) – Minnesota Science Teachers Association and Minnesota Council of Teachers of Mathematics grant funding.

Rep. Wolgamott moved that HF 3344 be presented before the committee; be laid over for further consideration and possible inclusion in a future omnibus bill.

Chair Davnie moved that the A1 author’s amendment to HF 3344 be presented to and adopted by the committee. A voice vote was taken. Motion prevailed; the amendment was adopted.
Rep. Wolgamott presented HF 3344, as amended.
Rep. Wolgamott renewed the motion that HF 3344, as amended, be laid over for possible inclusion or for further consideration at a later date.
