MINUTES

Representative Jim Davnie, Chair of the Education Finance Committee, called the virtual meeting to order at 10:30am on March 10, 2021 pursuant to House rule 10.01. The meeting is being broadcast via Zoom and House Public Information Services.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

HF 1742 (Berg) School districts fund school support personnel (school counselors, school psychologists, school social workers, school nurses, and chemical dependency counselors) out of their general fund budget. HF 1742 creates a new ongoing state aid to hire additional school support personnel and appropriates $18.712 million in fiscal year 2022 and $23.152 million in fiscal year 2023 to fund the program.

Rep. Jordan moved that HF 1742 be presented before the committee; be laid over for further consideration and possible inclusion in a future omnibus bill.

Rep. Jordan moved that the A1 amendment to HF 1742 be presented to and adopted by the committee. A voice vote was taken. Motion prevailed and the amendment was adopted.

Rep. Berg presented HF 1742, as amended.

Rep. Jordan renewed the motion that HF 1742, as amended, be laid over for further consideration and possible inclusion in a future omnibus bill.

HF 1712 (Keeler) This bill modifies the World’s Best Workforce performance measures and reporting requirements.

Rep. Xiong moved that HF 1712 be presented before the committee; be laid over for further consideration and possible inclusion in a future omnibus bill.

Rep. Davnie moved that the A1 amendment to HF 1712 be presented to and adopted by the committee. A voice vote was taken. Motion prevailed and the amendment was adopted.

Rep. Keeler presented HF 1712, as amended.

Rep. Xiong renewed the motion that HF 1712 be laid over for further consideration and possible inclusion in a future omnibus bill.
