MINUTES

Representative Richardson, Co-Chair of the Select Committee on Racial Justice, called the remote meeting to order at 1:00pm on Tuesday, October 6th, 2020, pursuant to House rule 10.01.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Richardson called the meeting at 1:00pm. A quorum was present.

Representative Demuth moved that the minutes of September 22nd, 2020 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Kate Beane, PhD (Flandreau Santee Sioux Dakota) Public Historian and Educator Carly Bad Heart Bull, JD (Flandreau Santee Sioux Dakota) Executive Director of Native Ways Federation provided joint testimony and presented on the topic of historical trauma of Indigenous people in Minnesota for the committee.

Sam Simmons, LADC Behavioral Consultant, Samuel Simmons Consulting, testified and presented on the topic of historical trauma of African Americans in Minnesota for the committee.


Rep. Richardson opened the committee for Member discussion and questions.


The meeting was adjourned at 3:06pm.
