MINUTES

Representative Jim Davnie, Chair of the Education Finance Division, called the meeting to order at 9:47 am on March 6, 2019 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Rep. Demuth moved that the minutes from March 5, 2019 be approved. Motion prevailed.

HF 1336 (Hamilton) Appropriates $15,000,000 from state bond proceeds to the commissioner of education for a grant to Independent School District No. 2884, Red Rock Central for construction of school facilities in Lamberton, Minnesota. Requires the school district to provide a local match of at least $14,000,000 before the state grant may be made available.

Rep. Hamilton presented HF 1336.

Rep. Jurgens moved that HF 1336 be referred to the Committee on Ways and Means with the recommendation that it be re-referred to the Division on Capital Investment. Motion Prevailed.

HF 1832 (Hamilton) Appropriates $15,000,000 from state bond proceeds to the commissioner of education for a grant to Independent school district No. 518, Worthington, for construction of school facilities. Requires the school district to provide a local match of at least $15,000,000 before the state grant may be made available.

Rep. Daniels moved that HF 1832 be presented before the committee; be referred to the Committee on Ways and Means with the recommendation that it be re-referred to the Division on Capital Investment.

Rep. Hamilton presented HF 1832.

Rep. Daniels renewed motion that HF 1832 be referred to the Committee on Ways and Means with the recommendation that it be re-referred to the Division on Capital Investment. Motion prevailed.
