MINUTES

Representative Davids, Chair of the Taxes Committee, called the meeting to order at 10:15 AM, on Tuesday, March 27th, 2018, in Room 200 of the State Office Building. A quorum was present.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Schultz moved the minutes of Thursday, March 22nd, 2018 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF3918 (Swedzinski) Gun safe purchases exempted.

Representative Davids moved HF3918 be laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus tax bill.

Representative Davids renewed his motion that HF3918 be laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus tax bill.

HF4020 (Ward) Credit for donations to youth intervention organizations allowed, and money appropriated.

Representative Davids moved HF4020 be laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus tax bill.

Paul Cumings, Tax Policy Manager, Minnesota Department of Revenue.

Representative Schultz moved to orally amend HF4020 by: Line 5.29 insert “one-time” $100,000 appropriation to “annual” $100,000 appropriation. THE MOTION WAS WITHDRAWN.

Representative Anderson moved that HF4020 be recommended to be referred to the Committee on Public Safety. THE MOTION WAS WITHDRAWN.

Representative Davids moved to delete Lines 5.28-5.32. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Davids renewed his motion that HF4020, as amended, be laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus tax bill.

HF3976 (Maye Quade) Prepared food exempted for nonprofit food programs.

Representative Davids moved HF3976 be laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus tax bill.

Representative Davids moved to orally amend HF3976 by: Line 1.10 strike “though” insert “through”. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Davids renewed his motion that HF3976 as amended, be laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus tax bill.
