MINUTES

Representative Nornes, Chair of the Higher Education and Career Readiness Policy and Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 3:07 PM on March 14, 2017, in Hearing Room 5 of the State Office Building. A quorum was present.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Christensen moved that the minutes of March 8, 2017, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF2234 (Zerwas) North Memorial Hospital family practice residency program funding provided, and money appropriated.

Representative Zerwas moved that HF2234 be laid over for possible inclusion into an omnibus bill.

Representative Zerwas renewed his motion that HF2234 be laid over for possible inclusion into an omnibus bill.

Representative Omar moved that HF2257 be laid over for possible inclusion into an omnibus bill.

Representative Omar renewed her motion that HF2257 be laid over for possible inclusion into an omnibus bill.

HF1577 (Omar) Postsecondary educational institutions required to provide information to pregnant students and student parents; state grant program to fund activities and services to support pregnant students and student parents at postsecondary educational institutions established, and money appropriated.

Representative Omar moved that HF1577 be re-referred to the Health and Human Services Finance committee.

HF2226 (Poppe) Individuals teaching in agricultural education loan forgiveness provided, and money appropriated.

Chair Nornes moved that HF2226 be laid over for possible inclusion into an omnibus bill.

HF2313 (Christensen) Minnesota State Colleges tuition reduction funding provided, and money appropriated.

Vice Chair Christensen moved that HF2313 be laid over for possible inclusion into an omnibus bill.

Representative Albright moved the following oral amendment: Page 1, delete lines 6 and 7.
Page 1, line 8, delete “reduction at state colleges.”

Representative Albright withdrew his motion.

HF2198 (Christensen) Student activity fees made optional.

Vice Chair Christensen moved that HF2197 and HF2198 be laid over for possible inclusion into an omnibus bill.

Vice Chair Christensen moved to adopt the H2198DE1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
