MINUTES


Representative Schomacker, Chair of the Health and Human Services Reform Committee, called the meeting to order at 8:17 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building. A quorum was present.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Albright moved to approve the minutes from March 16, 2017. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF2621 (Franson) Female genital mutilation crime expanded, requirements for education and outreach updated, and definition of egregious harm expanded.

Representative Franson moved HF2621 be recommended to be re-referred to the General Register.

Representative Franson moved the A9 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Franson moved the A8 amendment.

Jenifer Somerfeld, DHS, testified regarding the A8 amendment.

Autumn Baum, DHS, testified regarding the A8 amendment.

THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Testimony was heard regarding HF2621.

Representative Franson renewed her motion that HF2621 be recommended to be re-referred to the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Kristen Ehresmann, RN, MPH, Director, Minnesota Department of Health, Infectious Disease Epidemiology, Prevention and Control, gave a presentation about the measles outbreak.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:55 a.m.
