MINUTES



Representative Tim O’Driscoll, Chair of the Government Operation and Election Policy Committee called the meeting to order at 10:17AM on April 11, 2018, in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building. A quorum was present.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Nash moved to approve the minutes from the March 22st, 2018 meeting. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Sandstede moved to approve the minutes from the March 27st, 2018 meeting. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Bliss moved to approve the minutes from the March 29st, 2018 meeting. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Jessup moved to approve the minutes from the March 28st, 2018 meeting. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The Office of the Legislative Auditor presented the Voter Registration Report.

The following testified on the Voter Registration Report:

Julie Strother, Secretary of State’s Office

Office of the Secretary of State provided an update on federal Help America Vote Act election security funds.

Steve Simon, Secretary of State presented.

HF4104 (Garofalo) Mail balloting in any town or city with fewer than 400 registered voters authorized.

Representative O’Driscoll moved HF4104 before of the committee for an information hearing.

Representative Garofalo presented HF4104.

The following testified in favor oof HF4104:

Andy Lokken, Director of Elections in Dakota County
Cari Ann Alleman, Minnesota Association of Townships

Representative O’Driscoll closed the informational hearing on HF4104.

HF3979 (Garofalo) State primary required to be held on the same day as the presidential nomination primary in 2020.

Representation O’Driscoll moved HF3979 in front of the committee for an informational hearing.

Representative Garofalo presented HF3979.

Steve Simon, Secretary of State testified on HF3979.

Representative O’Driscoll closed the informational hearing on HF3979.


The meeting was adjourned at 11:59AM.
