EDUCATION FINANCE COMMITTEE
MINUTES

Representative Loon, Chair of the Education Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 1:05 P.M. on February 28th, 2018 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Erickson moved that the minutes of February 22nd, 2017 be adopted. THE MO-TION PREVAILED.

Representative Moran moved that the minutes of February 27th, 2017 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Tony Jurgens informed the committee members that today is National Bus Driver Day and the committee expressed appreciation for their work.

Adosh Unni, Director of Government Relations at Minnesota Department of Education, provided an overview of:
Support Our Students Grant
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
Use of Compensatory Revenue and Safe Schools Levy Revenue for Mental Health Services

Other Testifiers included:

Carl Romstad, School Psychologists

Minnesota Department of Education staff members Dr. Tom Melcher, Finance Director, and Greg Keith, Chief Academic Officer, provided a Fiscal Transparency and Accountability overview and a presentation on the Accountability for State Funding Streams.
