SELECT COMMITTEE ON AFFORDABLE CHILD CARE
MINUTES

Representative Franson, Chair of the Select Committee on Affordable Child Care, called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at the Kandiyohi County Historical Society in Willmar, Minnesota.

Legislative Assistant David Larson noted the roll.

Select Committee Members excused: Representative Kelly Fenton, Representative Ron Kresha, Representative Joe Mullery.

Representative Dave Baker introduced himself.

Regina Wagner, Minnesota Department of Human Services, spoke about the Department’s work within the child care industry and answered questions of the committee and the public.

Representative Franson opened the meeting to public testimony.

Karen DeBoer, Region 8 Child Care Aware;
Marge Knudson, District Director, Child Care Aware;
Sally Calvin, Child Care Provider;
Trisha Hering, Director, Kinder Kare;
Jodi Martins, Program Officer, Southwest Initiative Foundation;
Jacque Larson, Child Care Provider;
Patti Dols, Southwest Initiative Foundation.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.

The Select Committee on Affordable Child Care will hold a meeting in Willmar, MN on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at the Kandiyohi County Historical Society (610 Hwy 71 Srv Rd, Willmar, MN 56201) from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The committee will be hearing from providers, parents, and the public about child care in the region.
