MINUTES

Representative Lenczewski, Chair of Committee on Taxes, called the meeting to order at 1:00 PM April 10 in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

There was a continuation of discussion on HF 409 (Norton) Medical center development authority established and organization, powers, and duties provided for; medical center development districts provided for; issuance of revenue obligations authorized; city bonds authorized; state assistance authorized; and money appropriated.

The Tax Committee went into recess at 3:30 pm.

The Tax Committee reconvened at 3:40 pm.

Representative Marquart assumed the gavel at 3:40 pm.

Chair Lenczewski moved HF 1743

Chair Lenczewski presented HF 1743 (Lenczewski) Sports memorabilia tax imposed, and sales tax expanded to include suite and box seat rentals.

The following individuals testified on HF 1743:

Michele Kelm-Helgen, Chair of the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority

Representative Loeffler assumed the gavel at 4:42 pm.

There was a continuation of testimony on HF 1743:

Ted Johnson, Minnesota Timberwolves/Lynx
Jeff Pellegrom, Minnesota Wild
Kevin Smith, Senior Director of Corporate Communications for the Minnesota Twins
Rochelle Westlund, Minnesota Retailers Association

HF 1743 was laid over for possible inclusion to an omnibus tax bill.


The meeting was adjourned at 5:30 PM.
