STATE OF MINNESOTA NINTEENTH MEETING
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES EIGHTY-EIGHTH SESSION

Representative Kahn, Chair of the Legacy Committee, called the meeting to order at 2:16 P.M. on March 19, 2013 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.
The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present at 2:20 P.M.
Michelle Furrer, Director, Como Park Zoo, gave a brief overview of the park, its history and its education programs.
Anne Field, Chair, Como Friends Board of Directors, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, explained some aspects of the park's programs and the private/public partnerships they maintain.
Ms. Furrer then explained some of the accomplishments made with previous Legacy funds and gave an overview of the Zoo's FY14/FY15 funding request.
Representative Green moved that the minutes of March 6, 2013 and March 13, 2013 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
Greta Gauthier, Director of Government Relations, Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA), gave a brief background of the MDA's County Fair Arts Access and Cultural Heritage Grant Programs.
Emily Murphy, Program Administrator, MDA County Fair Arts Access and Cultural Heritage Program, explained the two types of grants that the program awards and some examples of projects that have been completed with Legacy funding.
Gail Johnson, Director of Hennepin County Fair Board, and Stephen Hallan, Director, Federation of County Fairs, both expressed their support of the program and explained how they used the funding in the past and their intentions for the future.
David O'Fallon, President, Minnesota Humanities Center, responded to member questions.
