MINUTES

Representative Kahn, Chair of the Legacy Committee, called the meeting to order at 2:16 P.M. on March 12, 2013 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Members excused:

A quorum was present at 2:18 P.M.

Mary Vogel, Co-Director, Center for Changing Landscapes, University of Minnesota College of Design, gave a summary of the MN Network of Parks and Trails study she conducted.

Representative Lillie moved that the minutes of March 5, 2013 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rolf Hagberg, Executive Director, Northern Bedrock Conservation Corps, gave an overview of their proposal to create a Historic Preservation Corps.

Janet Timmerman, Interim Director, History Center of Olmsted County, presented an example of a project, funded with Legacy grants, which could be completed by the Historic Preservation Corps.

Larry Sommer, Historic Preservation Consultant, testified in support of the proposal to create a Historic Preservation Corps.

David Kelliher, Director of Public Policy, Minnesota History Center (MHS), explained how projects done by the Historic Preservation Corps would fit into the existing grant structure.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:34 P.M.
