MINUTES

Representative Kahn, Chair of the Legacy Committee, called the meeting to order at 2:19 P.M. on March 5, 2013 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present at 2:22 P.M.

Lisa Radzak, Managing Director, Public Affairs and Government Relations, Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) gave an overview of how MPR has used Legacy funding in the past and what they hope to accomplish in the future.

Brian Newhouse, Managing Director, Classical MPR, gave background on some of the current Legacy funded MPR programs.

Representative Urdahl moved that the minutes of February 26, 2013 and February 27, 2013 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Brett Smith, Education Coordinator, MPR, discussed some of the educational programs funded with Legacy dollars. He also suggested that it would be helpful for the Committee to give more guidance regarding grant distribution to the Department of Administration.

David O'Fallon, Chief Executive Officer, Minnesota Humanities Center (MHC) presented an overview of MHC's mission and how they have used Legacy funding in the past.

Chair Kahn recessed the meeting at 2:54 P.M. to the call of the chair, because of technical difficulties.

Chair Kahn reconvened the Legacy Committee at 2:55 P.M.

Trista Matascastillo, Chair of Minnesota Women Veterans Initiative Working Group, MHC, and Samuel Ortiz Verdeja, Advisor, Veterans Voices Project, MHS, explained the background and gave details on the Veterans Voices Project.

Michael Garcia, Chief Executive Officer, Duluth Children's Museum, explained the positive impact Legacy funding has had on the Duluth Children's Museum and how it has led to collaboration throughout the state.

Dianne Steinbach, Executive Director, Arts & Cultural Media, Twin Cities Public Television, clarified the funding on programs discussed earlier in the meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:41 P.M.
