MINUTES

Representative Poppe, Chair of Committee on Agriculture Policy, called the meeting to order at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Bly testified on HF2619, (Bly) forever green agriculture.

Thom Peterson, Minnesota Farmers Union, testified in support of HF2619.

Dr. Don Wyse, Department of Agronomy and Plant Genetics, University of Minnesota, testified on HF2619.

Chair Poppe moved to re-refer HF2619 to the Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Hansen introduced HF2908 (Hansen), bee death caused by pesticide poisoning compensation provided.

Representative Hansen explained the H2908DE5 amendment (see attached).

Santo Cruz, Minnesota Department of Agriculture, testified in support of the H2908DE5 amendment.

Representative Falk moved approval of the H2908DE5 amendment (see attached). THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
Bruce Kleven, Minnesota Barley Growers, testified in support of HF2908 as amended.

Bill Bond testified on HF2908.

Kristy Allen, Beez Kneez, read testimony from various bee keepers from around the country.

Lex Horan, Pesticide Action Network, testified in support of HF2908 as amended.

Representative Falk moved to re-refer HF2908, as amended, to the Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Fritz presented on Agriculture in her district.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:49 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014.
