MINUTES

Representative Poppe, Chair of Committee on Agriculture Policy, called the meeting to order at 8:15 A.M. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Colbey Sullivan, House Research, introduced HF2746, Department of Agriculture un-session bill.

Representative Poppe moved to adopt the A14-0859 amendment (see attached). THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Santo Cruz, Director of Government Affairs, Minnesota Department of Agriculture, testified on HF2746 as amended.

Representative Poppe moved to refer HF2746 as amended to the House Floor. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Barrett introduced HF2178.

Representative Hamilton moved to adopt the A14-0856 amendment (see attached). THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Linda Pral, Minnesota Department of Health, testified on HF2178 as amended.

April Bogard, Minnesota Department of Health, testified on HF2178 as amended regarding food safety protection.

Santo Cruz testified on HF2178 as amended.

Dr. Heidi Kassenberg, Minnesota Department of Agriculture, testified on HF2178 as amended.

Kathy Zeman, Operations Manager, Minnesota Farmer’s Market Association, testified on HF2178 as amended.

Daniel Hoff, Director of Environmental Health, Minneapolis Health Department, testified on farmer’s markets and HF2178 as amended.

Cecilia Coulter, Minnesota Farmer’s Market Association, testified on farmer’s markets in Minnesota and HF2178 as amended.

Martha Archer, Executive Director, Mill City Farmer’s Market, testified in support of HF2178 as amended.

Representative Hamilton renewed his motion to re-refer HF2178, as amended, to the House Floor. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Erickson moved approval of the minutes from Wednesday, March 5th and Thursday, March 6th. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE MINUTES WERE APPROVED.

Representative Petersburg presented on agriculture in his district, 24A.

Representative Poppe, Chair, presented on Agriculture in her district, 27B.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014.
