HIGHER EDUCATION POLICY AND FINANCE

MINUTES

Representative Nornes, Chair of the Higher Education Policy and Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 12:30 PM on March 20, 2012 in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

No members were excused.

A quorum was present.

Representative Banaian moved the minutes from the committee meeting on March 15, 2012 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 2846 (Kahn) Student Advisory Council membership modified.

Representative Nornes moved that HF 2846 be heard and considered for possible inclusion in the Higher Education Omnibus Bill.

Representative Morrow moved to amend HF 2846 as follows:
Page 1, Line 8, after include, insert but not limited to:
THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Nornes moved that HF 2846, as amended, be laid over for possible inclusion in the Higher Education Omnibus Bill. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 2880 (Mazorol) Student definition modified for purposed of the statement of immunization.

Representative Mazorol moves that HF 2880 be heard and considered for possible inclusion in the Higher Education Omnibus Bill.

Representative Norton moved to amend HF 2880 as follows:
Page 2, Line 2, strike , hybrid classes that blend online classes with face-to-face classes,
THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

The committee heard testimony on HF 2880, as amended.

Mike Lopez, Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System Office

Representative Nornes moved that HF 2808, as amended, be laid over for possible inclusion in the Higher Education Omnibus Bill. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The committee held an informational hearing on HF 2025 (Urdahl) Postsecondary enrollment options program expanded, and career and technical education task force established.
