MINUTES

A quorum was present and Representative Erickson, Chair of the Education Reform Committee, called the meeting to order at 5:00 PM on April 7, 2011, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

SF55 (Woodard) Charter school authorizer approval deadline modified.

Representative Woodard moved that SF55 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Civil Law. Representative Woodard moved the S0055DE1-1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED. Chair Erickson moved the S0055A1 amendment.

Representative Woodard presented the amendment.

The committee heard testimony on the amendment.

Representative Greiling requested a roll call vote. CHAIR ERICKSON WITHDREW THE AMENDMENT.

Chair Erickson incorporated the following changes into the S0055DE1-1 amendment:

Page 7, line 28, delete "contract" and insert "employment agreement"
Page 18, line 14, delete "sustainable"

Chair Erickson moved the RA11-096 amendment.

The committee heard testimony on the amendment.

Page 1, line 15, delete "anonymized student level data" and insert "summary data on student performance outcomes"
Page 1, line 15, delete "meets" and insert "meet"

THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED, AS AMENDED.

Representative Woodard renewed the motion that SF55, as amended, be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Civil Law. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF672 (Dettmer) Charter school pilot project established to examine the policy implications of allowing the charter school to become an educational entity within a school district while retaining the autonomy and flexibility of a charter school.

Chair Erickson moved HF672. Chair Erickson moved the H0672DE1-2 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED. Chair Erickson moved the H0672A2 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Dettmer presented the bill.

The committee heard testimony on the bill.

CHAIR ERICKSON MOVED TO TABLE HF672.

Representative Murdock moved that the minutes from the committee meeting on March 15, 2011, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE MINUTES WERE APPROVED.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:25 PM.
