MINUTES



Representative Kory Kath, Vice-Chair of the K-12 Education Policy & Oversight Committee, unofficially called the ninth meeting to order at 8:33 AM on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 in the basement hearing room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll:

Mr. Jim Nobles and Ms. Judy Randall, Office of the Legislative Auditor, presented on their QComp Evaluation Report

Chair Kath officially called the meeting to order at 8:40 AM.

Questions and discussion followed.

Ms. Jodi Olson, president of the Wayzata Education Association, Mr. Dave O’Connor, consultant and former deputy superintendent of Roseville Area Schools, and Mr. Jon Steffes, second grade teacher at La Crescent-Hokah Public Schools, testified about the impact of QComp on student achievement at their schools.

Questions and discussion followed.

Mr. Craig Holje, director of personnel and administrative services of Richfield School District, and Mr. Andy Uhler, president of the Richfield Education Association, testified as representatives of districts not enrolled in QComp.

Questions and discussion followed.

Rep. Brynaert moved that the minutes of February 3, 2009 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE MINUTES WERE ADOPTED.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:05 AM.
