CRIME VICTIMS & CRIMINAL RECORDS DIVISION

MINUTES



Representative John Lesch, Chair of the Crime Victims & Criminal Records Division, started the first meeting at 8:35 am on Friday, January 16, 2009 in Room 5 of the State Office Building. A quorum was present and the meeting was called to order.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Jenifer Loon
Kory Kath
Dave Olin

Members Excused:

Paul Kohls


Agenda/ Action:

Chair Lesch asked members and staff to introduce themselves to the committee and for the record.

The following individuals provided an overview of their organization, the crime victims services they provide, and took questions from committee members:

Jeri Boisvert, Executive Director, Office of Justice Programs, Department of Public Safety
Carolyn Palmer, Staff Attorney, Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault
Leah Sweet, Executive Director, Minnesota Alliance on Crime

Vice-Chair Shimanski assumed the gavel at 9:00 am.

Chair Lesch assumed the gavel at 9:05 am.

Dave Johnson, Executive Director, Bureau of Criminal Apprehensions MNJIS, provided an overview of criminal records systems and the MNJIS system, and took questions from committee members.

Chair Lesch announced to members that the committee legislative assistant would be in communication regarding alternate meeting times.


The meeting was adjourned at 9:40 am.
