MINUTES



Representative Otremba, Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order at 2:50 P.M. on, March 9, 2009, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Faust moved approval of the minutes from March 4, 2009.
THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE MINUTES WERE ADOPTED.

Representative Morrow moved HF557 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Finance.

Representative Morrow moves to amend HF557, the first committee engrossment, as follows: (see amendment HO557A2).
THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

HF557 (Severson) relating to state government; authorizing preferences in state procurement for veteran-owned small businesses and disabled veteran-owned small businesses;

Representative Severson explained HF557 to the committee and took questions from the members.

Testifying in favor of HF557 was:

Mark Ellson, President, Minnesota Chapter Service Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses (SDVOB)

Steve Banks, CEO, Division 21, Service Disabled Vet

Jerry Kyser, Chairman, United Veterans Legislative Council of Minnesota

Linda Pomeroy, Customer Service Representative, Eagle Trucking, Forest Lake, MN, testified on behalf of her employer


Representative Morrow moved the Division Report on HF557.
THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE MINUTES WERE ADOPTED.


Representative Morrow renewed his motion that HF557 be recommended to pass, as amended, and re-referred to the Committee on Finance.
THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Morrow moved HF1095 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Civil Justice.

HF1095 (Mullery) relating to agriculture; classifying certain research, monitoring, and assessment data;

Representative Mullery explained HF1095 to the committee.

Testifying in favor of HF1095:

Bob Patton, Land use and Environmental Coordinator, Minnesota Department of Agriculture

Stacie Christensen, Acting Assistant Director, Minnesota Department of Administration

Representative Morrow renewed his motion that HF1095 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Civil Justice.
