Representative Bernie Lieder, Chair of the House Transportation Finance & Policy Division called the meeting to order at 4:37 P.M. on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

HF2003 (Morrow) Minnesota transit providers' schedule of state payments for operating procedures modified. Rep. Morrow moved the bill before the committee. Linda Elfstrand, TRI-Cap and Tom Gottfried, MnDOT Office of Transit, spoke to the bill. HF 2003 was laid over until our meeting next week.

HF1164 (Liebling) Drivers' license cumulative suspensions halted. Rep. Lieder moved the bill before the committee. Pat McCormack, Driver and Vehicle Services of the Dept. of Public Safety (DPS), spoke to the fiscal impact of the bill. Jean Ryan, Office of Traffic Safety, DPS, answered committee questions. HF 1164 was laid over temporarily.

Rep. Beard moved the minutes of March 31 and April 2, 2009. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1356 (Newton) Free public transit use for disabled veterans and current, uniformed active service members provided. Rep. Newton moved adoption of the H1356A3 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. Rep. Newton moved the following oral amendment of the bill:

On page 1, delete sections 1 to 2

THE MOTION PREVAILED. Judd Schetnan, Metropolitan Council, spoke to the bill. Rep .Newton moved that HF 1356, as amended, be recommended to pass and returned to the Finance Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1237 (Eken) Natural resources and state park provisions modified. Rep. Lieder moved the bill before the committee. Assistant Commissioner of the Dept. of Natural Resources, Bob Meier, spoke to the bill. Rep. Lieder moved adoption of the H1237A5 amendment. After committee discussion, Rep. Lieder withdrew the H1237A5 amendment. Rep. Lieder moved that HF 1237 be recommended to pass and returned to the Finance committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:45 P.M.
