MINUTES



Representative Michael Paymar, Chair of the Public Safety Finance Division Committee, called the twenty-ninth meeting to order at 8:32 a.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2010, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Continued presentation to committee members from the Minnesota Department of Corrections on the Governor’s Supplemental Budget Recommendations.

Lisa Cornelius, Assistant Commissioner of Operations Support Services, Minnesota Department of Corrections.

Ken Merz, Director Community Services Division, Minnesota Department of Corrections.

Nanette Larson, Health Services Director, Minnesota Department of Corrections.

Testified on behalf of Labor in response to the Department of Corrections’ presentation:

Julie Bleyhl, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Council 5.
Richard Kolodziejski, Legislative Affairs Director, Minnesota Association of Professional Employees.

Testified on behalf of community corrections in response to the Department of Corrections’ presentation:


Ryan Erdmann, Director, Minnesota Association of Community Corrections Act Counties, of Community Public Relations, DOC.

Sarah Walker, Minnesota Corrections Association, and Chief Operating Officer of 180 Degrees and Founder Second Chance Coalition, Member of the Minnesota Corrections Association Legislative Committee.

Janet Graves, Former Department of Corrections Employee.


A quorum was now present.

Rep. Reinert moved the Public Safety Finance Division minutes from February 18, 2010 be approved. MOTION PREVAILED AND THE MINUTES ARE APPROVED.

The committee was adjourned at 9:52 a.m.
