MINUTES


Representative Mindy Greiling, Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order at 8:30AM on March 25, 2010, in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was not present.

HF3306 (Downey) A bill for an act relating to taxation; making policy, technical, administrative, enforcement, and other changes to individual income, corporate franchise, property, aids, payments, credits, refunds, and other taxes and tax-related provisions; conforming to changes made to the Internal Revenue Code; providing an Angel investment credit and a Minnesota business investment company credit; establishing a TECHZ business program.

Tom Melcher, Finance Director, Minnesota Department of Education, Lance Staricha, Attorney, Department of Revenue, and Beth Kadoun, Assistant Commissioner, Department of Revenue, provided an informational overview of HF3306, Article 6, Section 2.

A quorum was present at 8:40am.

Public testimony on HF3306, Article 6, Section 2, was provided by the following individuals:
Gene Piccolo, Executive Director, Minnesota Association of Charter Schools

Representative Mariani moved the minutes of March 24, 2010 be adopted.
THE MOTION PREVAILED.


HF3421 (Mariani) A bill for an act relating to education; establishing high school assessments to determine college and career readiness.

Representative Mariani moved HF3421 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Omnibus K-12 Education Finance Bill.

Representative Mariani moved H3421A28 as an amendment to HF3421.
THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Mariani and Kent Pekel, Executive Director, College Readiness Consortium testified.

Representative Mariani renewed his motion that HF3421, as amended, be laid over for possible inclusion in the Omnibus K-12 Education Finance Bill.


The meeting was adjourned at 10am.
