MINUTES


Representative Ann Lenczewski, Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order at 2:27 P.M on Monday, February 18, 2008, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Chair Lenczewski called a recess to the call of the chair at 2:30 PM.

The Taxes Committee reconvened at 3:02 P.M.

HF2800 Lieder Transportation finance bill appropriating money for highway maintenance, local roads, emergency relief related to the I-35W bridge collapse, establishing a bridge improvement program; issuing bonds; and modifying motor fuel taxes.

Representative Marquart moved the minutes from May 18, 2007. THE MOTION PREVAILED-THE MINUTES WERE APPROVED.

Representative Marquart moved the minutes from November 9, 2007. THE MOTION PREVAILED-THE MINUTES WERE APPROVED.

Representative Lenczewski moved HF2800, First Engrossment, be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Representative Lenczewski moved the H-2800-A18 amendment to HF 2800, First Engrossment. THE MOTION PREVAILED-THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPED. (ATTACHED)

Representative Lenczewski moved the H-2800-A19 amendment to HF 2800, First Engrossment. THE MOTION PREVAILED-THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED. (ATTACHED)

The following people testified on HF2800: Koryn Zewers, Legislative Analyst for House Fiscal Services, Matt Burress, Legislative Analyst for House Research, and Nina Manzi, Legislative Analyst for House Research .

The following people testified against HF2800: Erin Sexton, Director of Transportation Policy for the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, and Jill Larson, Fiscal Policy Director for the Minnesota Business Partnership.

Representative Lenczewski renewed her motion that HF2800, First Engrossment, be recommended to pass as amended and be re-referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

THE MOTION PREVAILED-THE BILL PASSED AND WAS SENT TO THE COMMITTEE ON WAYS AND MEANS.

The committee adjourned at 4:50 P.M.
