MINUTES


Representative Julie Bunn, Vice-Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order at 6:15 P.M. on Monday, February 25, 2008, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Rep. Murphy moved that the minutes of February 12, 2008 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Thao moved that HF2837 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Health and Human Services.

HF2837 (Thao) A bill for an act relating to optometrist; changing practice and licensing provisions

Providing testimony on the bill were:

Jim Meffert-Nelson, Executive Director, MN Optometric Association
Dr. Scott Uttley, President-elect of the Minnesota Academy of Ophthalmology

Rep. Thao renewed his motion that HF2837 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Health and Human Services. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Chair Thao assumed the gavel at 6:30 P.M.

Chair Thao moved that HF2399 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Health and Human Services.

HF2399 (Thissen) A bill for an act relating to occupations; changing provisions for athletic trainers

Chair Thao moved the H2399A2 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Chair Thao renewed his motion that HF2399, as amended, be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Health and Human Services. On a division of 3 AYES and 3 NAYS THE MOTION DID NOT PREVAIL.

Chair Thao moved that HF1724 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Health and Human Services.

HF1724 (Walker) A bill for an act relating to health; providing for licensing of naturopathic doctors; providing criminal penalties

Chair Thao moved the A08-1139 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Chair Thao moved the H1724A1 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Abeler moved to amend the A08-1139 amendment as follows:

Page 17, delete Section 4

THE ORAL AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
