MINUTES


Representative Paul Thissen, Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order at 2:20 P.M. on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Rep. Murphy moved that the minutes of February 14, 2008 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Fritz moved that HF1066 be recommended to pass and referred to the General Register.

HF1066 (Fritz) Blood donor age minimum lowered to 15 with parental consent

Rep. Fritz moved the H1066A2 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Fritz presented the bill.

Providing testimony in support of the bill were:

Steve Sviggum, Commissioner, Department of Labor and Industry, and board member of Red Cross North Central Blood Services
Dr. Jed Garlin, Memorial Blood Centers of Minnesota

Rep. Fritz renewed her motion that HF1066, as amended, be recommended to pass and referred to the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Gottwalt moved that HF2639 be recommended to pass and referred to the General Register.

HF2639 (Gottwalt) A bill for an act relating to health; changing provisions for prescribing legend drugs

Rep. Gottwalt moved the H2639DE2 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Gottwalt presented the bill.

Rep. Gottwalt moved to amend H2639DE2 as follows:

Page 3, line 3.19, after "outbreak," insert "or"

THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Gottwalt renewed his motion that HF2639, as amended, be recommended to pass and referred to the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Norton moved that HF2426 be recommended to pass and referred to the General Register.

HF2426 (Norton) requiring notice for a redetermination of eligibility for services to disabled children

Rep. Norton presented the bill.

Rep. Thao moved that CEH1189-1 be recommended to pass and referred to the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
