TRANSPORTATION POLICY AND FINANCE COMMITTEE
MINUTES


Representative Lieder, Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order at 4:05 P.M. on March 6, 2008, in Room 10 of the State Office Building. The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Rep. Magnus moved the minutes of March 4, 2008. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Hornstein moved the Transportation and Transit Subcommittee report on HF 3589 (Madore) and that the bill be held over for possible inclusion in the Omnibus Transportation Policy bill. After committee discussion THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Hornstein moved the Transportation and Transit Subcommittee report on HF 2966 (Nelson) and that the bill be held over for possible inclusion in the Omnibus Transportation Policy bill. After committee discussion THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Hornstein moved the Transportation and Transit Subcommittee report on HF 2873 (Nelson) and that the bill be held over for possible inclusion in the Omnibus Transportation Policy bill. After committee discussion THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Hornstein moved the Transportation and Transit Subcommittee report on HF 2373 (Eken) and that the bill be held over for possible inclusion in the Omnibus Transportation Policy bill. After committee discussion THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Hornstein moved the Transportation and Transit Subcommittee report on HF 2460 (Dill) and that the bill be sent without recommendation to the Public Safety and Civil Justice Policy committee. After committee discussion THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Hornstein moved the Transportation and Transit Subcommittee report on HF 1822 (Jaros) and that the bill be sent without recommendation to the Public Safety and Civil Justice Policy committee. After committee discussion THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 2967 (Hortman) Trailer brake motor vehicle weight limit modified, and penalties imposed for forging or possessing false commercial motor vehicle inspection decals. Captain Ken Urquhart, MN State Patrol, assisted in presenting the bill. Rep. Hortman moved that HF 2967 be recommended to pass and rereferred to the Public Safety and Civil Justice committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 3128 (Brod) New Prague; Deputy registrar office location permitted to be within city limits. Rep. Magnus moved the A08-1285 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. Rep. Magnus moved that HF 3128, as amended, be recommended to pass and sent to the Consent Calendar. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 3726 (Hornstein) Wireless communication devices limited while operating motor vehicles. Jeff Nachbar, Brain Injury Association, spoke in favor of the legislation. Rep. Hornstein moved that HF 3726 be recommended to pass and rereferred to the Public Safety and Civil Justice committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
