MINUTES


Representative Kahn, Chair of the Division, called the meeting to order at 8:01 A.M. on May 11, 2007 in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was not present.

HF 2285 (Sertich) First Engrossment - Natural resource and cultural heritage dedicated funding provided through increased sales tax revenue, funds established, Natural Heritage Enhancement Council created, and constitutional amendment proposed.

Chair Kahn moved that HF 2285 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Finance Committee.

Representative Sertich and Tom Durand, Assistant Secretary of State, testified in support of HF 2285.

A quorum was present at 8:13 A.M.

Representative DeLaForest moved that the A07-0971 amendment (attached) be adopted and requested a roll call vote. The results were as follows:

On a vote of 4 AYES and 8 NAYS, THE MOTION DID NOT PREVAIL AND THE AMENDMENT WAS NOT ADOPTED.

Representative Zellers moved that the A07-0969 amendment (attached) be adopted and requested a roll call vote. The results were as follows:

On a vote of 4 AYES and 8 NAYS, THE MOTION DID NOT PREVAIL AND THE AMENDMENT WAS NOT ADOPTED.

Chair Kahn renewed her motion that HF 2285 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Finance Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 683 (Huntley) - Affordable health care right for every resident established, and constitutional amendment proposed.

Chair Kahn moved that HF 683 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Finance Committee.

Representative Huntley testified in support of HF 683.

Chair Kahn renewed her motion that HF 683 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Finance Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Zellers moved that the minutes of March 26, 2007; March 27, 2007; March 28, 2007; and March 29, 2007 be adopted.

THE MOTION PREVAILED.
