HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES STATE OF MINNESOTA
EIGHTY-FIFTH SESSION SIXTH MEETING

HEALTH CARE AND HUMAN SERVICES DIVISION

A quorum not present, the sixth meeting began at 12:35 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2007, in Room 200 of the State Office Building with the Chair asking Dept. of Human Services Assistant Commissioner Chuck Johnson to continue his Children and Family Services overview of January 24.

A quorum present at 12:36 p.m., the Chair formally called the sixth meeting to order.

Representative Abeler moved adoption of the January 24 minutes. The motion prevailed.

Chair Huntley announced Suzanne Geroux's last day at the House. Ms. Geroux was Committee Administrator under former Chair Fran Bradley. The Division wished her well. The Chair also announced next week’s upcoming meeting in Representative Thissen’s policy committee which will feature Peter Hutchinson and David Durenberger speaking on health care reform. Chair Huntley encouraged both policy and finance committee members to attend.

Mr. Johnson continued his testimony. Janel Bush, Director, Community Living Support (DHS), and Barb Juelich, (DHS) Budget Division Director were called to the table to respond to questions from Representative Abeler.

Mr. Johnson’s testimony concluded at 1:47 and discussion occurred whether to begin the continuing care overview by Loren Colman, Assistant Commissioner. It was decided Mr. Colman's overview would begin at the next meeting.

The Chair adjourned the meeting at 1:48 p.m.
