SUBCOMMITTEE ON DRINKING WATER SOURCE PROTECTION

APPROVED MINUTES


Chair Paul Gardner called the meeting to order at 2:18 p.m. on February 19, 2008 in Room 500N of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Presentation Christine Johnson, Rick Patra and Dave Benke of the Minnesota Pollution Control discussed current projects and bonding proposals.

Handouts were distributed to subcommittee members:
2008 Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Capital Request

A quorum was present at 2:31 p.m.

Jeff Lewis of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency discussed Washington County's closed landfill program.

HF 3005 (Gardner) Groundwater monitoring wells installation funding provided, bonds issued, and money appropriated.

Representative Moe moved approval of HF 3005 before the committee to pass and re-referred to Environment and Natural Resources Finance committee.
The motion prevailed.

HF 2806 (Brown) Albert Lea landfill remedial waste systems funding provided, bonds issued, and money appropriated.

Handouts were distributed to committee members:

Testifying on the bill:
Randall Erdman, Mayor of Albert Lea

Representative Gardner moved approval of HF 2806 before the subcommittee to pass and re-refer to the Environment and Natural Resources Finance committee.
The motion prevailed.

HF 2957 (Wagenius) Beneficial use of wastewater demonstration projects grants provided, bonds issued, and money appropriated.

Handouts were distributed to subcommittee members:
Metropolitan Council wastewater recycling executive summary

Representative Gardner moved approval of HF 2957 before the subcommittee to pass and re-refer to the Environment and Natural Resources Finance committee.
The motion prevailed.

HF XXXX (Bunn) Washington County Landfill funding provided, bonds issued, and money appropriated.

Handouts were distributed to the subcommittee members:
