MINUTES


Representative Mindy Greiling, Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order at 2:19PM on February 15, 2007, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Anzelc moved the minutes of February 13, 2007 be adopted.
THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE MINUTES ARE APPROVED.

Representative Dominguez moved the minutes of February 14, 2007 be adopted.
THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE MINUTES ARE APPROVED.


Representative Pelowski presented the classroom technology demonstration, "Why We Teach."

HF493 (Mariani) A bill for an act relating to education finance; appropriating money for the statewide science, technology, engineering, and math initiative.

Representative Mariani moved HF493 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Omnibus K-12 Finance Bill.

Representative Mariani, David Chittenden, Vice President of Education, Science Museum of Minnesota, and Liesl Chatman, Director of Teacher Professional Development, Science Museum of Minnesota, testified.

HF543 (Swails) A bill for an act relating to education finance; authorizing intermediate school districts to engage in certain short-term borrowing.

Representative Swails moved HF543 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Omnibus K-12 Finance Bill.

Representative Swails, Bill Keilty, Coordinator of Gifted Services, Spring Lake Park Schools, Marcia Dolezal, K-6 Gifted Coordinator, South Washington County Schools, Theresa Campbell, Third and Fourth Grade Teacher, Royal Oaks Elementary School, Melissa Anderson, member, Council on Gifted and Talented in Rochester, and Bob Boucher, Co-Chair, MN Council for the Gifted and Talented, testified.


The meeting was adjourned at 3:45PM.
