MINUTES


Representative Tom Rukavina, Chair of the Higher Education and Work Force Development Policy and Finance Division, called the meeting to order at 12:37 P.M. on Wednesday, February 28, 2007, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Chair Rukavina invited Dan McElroy, Commissioner, Department of Employment and Economic Development, to begin his presentation of the Department of Employment and Economic Development's budget request.

Dan McElroy, Commissioner, Department of Employment and Economic Development, introduced himself and began the presentation of the Department of Employment and Economic Development's agency-wide budget request.

Mark Lofthus, Director, Business Development, Department of Employment and Economic Development, introduced himself and continued the Department of Employment and Economic Development's budget request, covering the business and community development portion of their budget request.

Questions and discussion followed.

Terry Kuhlman, Executive Director, Public Facilities Authority, Department of Employment and Economic Development, introduced himself and provided assistance in responding to questions from members.

Rick Caligiuri, Director, Job Seeker Services, Department of Employment and Economic Development, introduced himself and continued the Department of Employment and Economic Development's budget request, covering the job seeker services portion of their budget request.

Dan McElroy, Commissioner, Department of Employment and Economic Development, provided further testimony on the Department of Employment and Economic Development's agency-wide budget request.

Kimberly Peck, Director, Rehabilitation Services, Department of Employment and Economic Development, introduced herself and continued the Department of Employment and Economic Development's budget request, covering the vocational rehabilitation portion of their budget request.

Questions and discussion followed.

Kimberly Peck, Director, Rehabilitation Services, Department of Employment and Economic Development, continued her presentation.

Representative Dettmer moved that the minutes of February 27, 2007 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Chair Rukavina stated that the presentation of the Department of Employment and Economic Development's budget request would continue to the next meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 1, 2007.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:05 P.M.
