MINUTES
Representative Mary Murphy, Chair, called the thirteenth meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 25, 2008 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.
The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Chair Murphy called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.
Ann McCully of Saint Paul, Executive Director of Minnesota Child Care Resource and Referral Network, provided an overview of Child Care Works and background on child care services in Minnesota
Pamela Willard of Mankato, Director of Golden Heart Child Care Center, testified to child care as provided in the workforce and business areas, specifically in greater Minnesota
A quorum was present at 4:24 p.m.
Lisa Thompson of Saint Paul, family child care provider, testified on in-home child care. Ms. Thompson was accompanied by Louisa Torres-Harris, a 4-year old child that has been in Ms. Thompson's care since she was an infant
Deby Ziesmer of Minneapolis, Director of Early Childhood Education at the YWCA, testified on center based child care
Janelle Taylor of Saint Paul, parent, testified to her experiences with child care as a working parent
Carrie Thomas of Saint Paul, Policy Director for the Jobs Now Coalition, testified to the economic impact that child care assistance has on workers
Representative Ward moved that the minutes of February 18th, 2008 be adopted
