MINUTES


Representative Leon Lillie, Vice-Chair of the Commerce and Labor Committee, called the meeting to order at 4:10 P.M. on February 19, 2008, in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Johnson moved that the minutes of February 14, 2008 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 2811 (Atkins) Board of Accountancy governing provisions modified

Representative Atkins moved HF 2811.

Representative Atkins moved the H2811A1 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

The following people testified on HF 2811:

Representative Joe Atkins
Bob Hyde, MN Board of Accountancy

Representative Atkins moved HF 2811, as amended, be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Public Safety and Civil Justice.


Representative Atkins assumed the gavel at 4:17 P.M.


HF 2898 (Paymar) Claim denials under aviation liability coverage regulated

Representative Atkins moved HF 2898.

Representative Atkins moved that HF 2898 be recommended to pass. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


Representative Atkins assumed the gavel at 4:24 P.M.

Representative Atkins called a recess of the Commerce and Labor Committee at 4:25 P.M.

Representative Atkins re-called the meeting of the Commerce and Labor Committee to order at 4:45 P.M.


HF 2553 (Winkler) Victim Compensation Fund; subrogation; whether health insurance companies will be able to recover funds intended for victims

Representative Atkins moved HF 2553.

The following people testified on HF 2553:

Representative Atkins moved the H2553A7 amendment.

Representative Atkins moved to orally amend the H2553A7 amendment as follows:

Line 1.8 delete "62O.01" and insert "62Q.01" and Line 2.7 delete everything after "released." THE AMENDMENT WAS INCOPORATED INTO THE AMENDMENT.

Representative Atkins moved the H2553A7 amendment, as amended. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Atkins moved HF 2553, as amended, be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


The meeting was adjourned at 5:05 P.M.
