MINUTES


Representative Phil Krinkie, Chair of the Taxes Committee, called the nineteenth meeting to order at 10:27 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2005, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Clerk noted the roll.

Chairman Krinkie moved HF 572 to be passed and re-referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.
Testifying was:
Terry Kuhlman; Minnesota Department of Trade and Economic Development
Chairman Krinkie moved the amendment labeled H0572A32 to be adopted and incorporated into HF 572.
THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
Chairman Krinkie renewed his motion that HF 572 be passed as amended and re-referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.
THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Vandeveer moved HF 34 to be passed and re-referred to the general register.
Testifying was:

John Hall; Washington County
Representative Vandeveer moved the amendment labeled H0034DE3 to be adopted and incorporated into HF 34.
THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
Representative Vandeveer renewed his motion that HF 34 be passed as amended and re-referred to the general register.
THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Vandeveer moved HF 241 to be passed and re-referred to the general register.
Representative Vandeveer moved the amendment labeled H0241DE2 to be adopted and incorporated into HF 241.
Representative Mullery moved the amendment labeled H0241A4 to be adopted and incorporated into the amendment labeled H0241DE2.
Testifying was:
Dave Titus; President, St Paul Police Federation
Representative Mullery withdrew his amendment.
Representative Vandeveer incorporated the following into the amendment labeled H0241DE2, on page 2, line 8 strike the words, “public safety officer” and insert, “police officer or firefighter”
Representative Vandeveer renewed his motion that the amendment labeled H0241DE2 be adopted and incorporated into HF 241.
THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
Representative Vandeveer renewed his motion that HF 241 be passed as amended and be re-referred to the general register.
THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Jaros moved HF 101 to be incorporated into the Tax Committee’s omnibus bill.
Testifying was:
Kevin Walley; City of Duluth
Jack Manson; Minnesota Department of Revenue
Chairman Krinkie laid HF 101 over for possible inclusion the Tax Committee’s omnibus bill.

Representative Gunther moved HF 406 to be incorporated into the Tax Committee’s omnibus bill.
Testifying was:
Steve Gednalske; Office of the Chancellor, Minnesota State Colleges and Universities
Representative Westerberg moved the amendment labeled H0406A1 to be adopted and incorporated into HF 406.
THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
Chairman Krinkie laid HF 406 over as amended for possible inclusion in the Tax Committee’s omnibus bill.

Representative Abrams moved approval of the committee minutes for Wednesday, March 16, 2005.
THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE MINUTES WERE APPROVED.
