MINUTES


Representative Erik Paulsen, Chair of the Committee on Rules and Legislative Administration, called the third meeting to order at 2:48 P.M. on Thursday, February 24, 2005, in Room 118 of the State Capitol.

The Clerk noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

The first matter under consideration was the approval of the minutes from the meeting on Tuesday, February 8, 2005.

Rep. Johnson, J. moved that the minutes be approved.

The MOTION PREVAILED; THE MINUTES WERE APPROVED.

The second matter under consideration was the Proposed Calendar for the Day for Monday, February 28, 2005.

Rep. Paulsen moved that the Proposed Calendar for the Day be approved.

The MOTION PREVAILED; THE PROPOSED CALENDAR FOR THE DAY FOR MONDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2005 WAS APPROVED.

The third matter under consideration was H.R.5, a resolution expressing the sense of the Minnesota House of Representatives that the Baseball Hall of Fame elect Roger Maris to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Rep. Sertich moved H.R.5

Discussion.

Rep. Sertich renewed his motion that H.R. be recommended to pass.

The MOTION PREVAILED; H.R.5 WAS RECOMMENDED TO PASS.

The fourth matter under consideration was the Payment of Legal Fees for Election Recount, Motions 2005-M-Soderstrom and 2005-M-Faust.

Rep. Paulsen presented information regarding the payment of legal fees for the election recount.

Discussion.

Paul Schweizer, House Controller, presented information regarding the attorney fees.

Rep. Paulsen moved that the legal counsel for Rep. Judy Soderstrom be paid by the House of Representatives in accordance with the House Policy on the Payment of Legal Fees and Expenses in the amount of $4,5452.47.

The MOTION PREVAILED; THE MOTION ON PAYMENT OF LEGAL FEES 2005-M-SODERSTROM WAS ADOPTED.

Rep Carlson moved that the legal counsel for candidate Tim Faust be paid by the House of Representatives in accordance with the House Policy on the Payment of Legal Fees and Expenses in the amount of $7,066.70.

The MOTION PREVAILED; THE MOTION ON PAYMENT OF LEGAL FEES 2005-M-FAUST WAS ADOPTED.

The meeting adjourned at 3:00.
