MINUTES


Representative Steve Smith, Chair of the Public Safety Policy and Finance Committee, called the thirty-second meeting to order at 10:23 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2005 in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Clerk noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Rep. Smith moved HF1406 (Zellars) relating to criminal sexual conduct life without release sentences provided, maximum sentences increased, Sex Offender Review Board established, sentencing guidelines modified, and predatory offender registration and notification requirements modified.

Rep. Smith moved to amend HF1406 with the H1406A14 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Zellars presented HF1406.

Rep. Hilstrom moved to amend HF1406 with the H1406A17 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Smith moved to amend HF1406 with the A05-0363 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Chairman Smith laid HF1406 as amended over for possible inclusion in the Public Safety Policy and Finance Omnibus Bill.

Rep. Smith moved HF1926 (Knoblach) relating to burglary crimes expanded.

Rep. Smith moved to amend HF1926 with the H1926DE1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Knoblach presented HF1926.

Testifying on HF1926:

Chairman Smith laid HF1926 as amended over for possible inclusion in the Public Safety Policy and Finance Omnibus Bill.

The meeting was recessed.
