PUBLIC SAFETY POLICY AND FINANCE COMMITTEE

MINUTES


Representative Steve Smith, Chair of the Public Safety Policy and Finance Committee, called the sixteenth meeting to order at 10:20 a.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2005 in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Clerk noted the roll.

A quorum was present.


Rep. Newman moved approval of the minutes of February 16, 2005, Public Safety Policy and Finance Meeting. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Paymar moved HF443 relating to public safety; expanding protection against employer retaliation for crime victims

Testifying on HF 443:

The Chair laid the bill over for possible inclusion in the omnibus Public Safety Policy and Finance bill.

Continued discussion on the Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) System overview.

The Chair introduced the 7th grade class from the Farmington Middle School.

Rep. Smith moved HF 465 (DeLaForest) relating to criminal justice; establishing a crime for interfering with ambulance service personnel who are providing emergency care

Rep. DeLaForest presented the bill.

The Chair laid the bill over for possible inclusion in the omnibus Crime Prevention bill.

The next meeting of the committee is on Tuesday, February 22.
