Representative Bob Gunther, Chair of the Jobs & Economic Opportunity Policy & Finance Committee, called the thirty-ninth meeting to order at 9:13 a.m., on Monday, April 11, 2005, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Clerk noted the roll.

H.F.1509 (Dempsey) Manufacturing job retainment program created and money appropriated.

Chair Gunther moved HF509 to be before the committee and recommended HF509 to be laid over for possible inclusion in the Jobs & Economic Opportunity Policy & Finance Omnibus bill.

Vice Chair Garofalo moved HF698 to be before the committee and recommended HF698 to be laid over for possible inclusion in the Jobs & Economic Opportunity Policy & Finance Omnibus bill.

Representative Sertich moved HF1897 to be before the committee and recommended HF1897 to be laid over for possible inclusion in the Jobs & Economic Opportunity Policy & Finance Omnibus bill.

Representative Sertich moved to amend HF1897, line 6, delete "2006" and insert "2005" and line 7, delete "2007" and insert "2006". The motion prevailed and the oral amendment to HF1897 was adopted.

Representative Sertich moved HF1578 to be before the committee and recommended that HF1578 pass and sent to the General Register.

Representative Sertich moved to adopt Amendment H1578A1. The motion prevailed and Amendment H1578A1 was adopted.

Representative Sertich renewed his motion to recommend passage of Hf1578, as amended, and send HF1578 to the General Register. The motion prevailed.


H.F.668 (Solberg) Grand Rapids Children's Discovery Museum funding provided, and money appropriated.

Representative Sertich moved HF668 to be before the committee and recommended that HF1578 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Jobs & Economic Opportunity Policy & Finance Omnibus bill.

Representative Sertich moved to amend HF668, line 8, delete "city of Grand Rapids and Itasca County for the predesign," and insert "Children’s Discovery Museum for" and delete line 9 and on line 9, insert "furnishing and equipping the". The motion prevailed and the oral amendment to HF668 was adopted.

Chair Gunther moved HF1002 to be before the committee and recommended that HF1002 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Jobs & Economic Opportunity Policy & Finance Omnibus bill.

H.F.2212 (Tingelstad) Sesquicentennial Commission established to plan activities relating to the 150th anniversary of Minnesota statehood, and money appropriated.

Representative Ruth moved HF2212 to be before the committee and recommended that HF2212 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Jobs & Economic Opportunity Policy & Finance Omnibus bill.

H.F.1521 (Hamilton) Power limited technicians application period extended.

Chair Gunther moved HF1521 to be before the committee and recommended that HF1521 pass and re-referred to the committee on Ways & Means.

H.F.898 (Sertich) Unemployment insurance federal requirement conformity and technical corrections provided.

Chair Gunther moved HF898 to be before the committee and recommended passage of HF898 and re-referral to the committee on Ways & Means.

Representative Sertich moved to adopt Amendment A05-0374. The motion prevailed and Amendment A05-0374 was adopted.

H.F.792 (Sertich) Securities, mortgage originators and servicers, athlete agents, and contractor's recovery fund regulated.

Representative Sertich moved HF792 to be before the committee and recommended passage of HF792 and send to the General Register.

Representative Sertich moved to amend HF792, pages 4 & 5, delete all of Section 2. The motion prevailed and the oral amendment was adopted.
