MINUTES
Representative Tom Hackbarth, Chair of the Environment & Natural Resources Policy Committee, called the fifth meeting to order at 12:41 p.m. on February 8, 2005, in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.
The Clerk noted the roll.

12:41:39 PM Rep Blaine moved the adoption of the minutes of the Environment & Natural Resources Policy Committee dated February 3, 2005.

12:41:58 PM The Chair announced that the committee would hear an overview of forestry.
12:42:33 PM Division of Forestry Director - DNR, Mike Carroll, presented an overview regarding timber sales, the fire section and private forest management.
12:59:26 PM Questions from the committee were posed to the presenter.
1:17:06 PM Division of Forestry – DNR, Sue Burks, presented an overview of Dutch Elm disease in Minnesota to the committee.
1:24:44 PM Questions from the committee were posed to the presenter.
1:36:19 PM Sue Burks gave a brief overview concerning Oak Wilt in Minnesota.
1:39:19 PM Minnesota Forest Resources Council (MFRC), Executive Director, David Zumeta, presented information regarding the MFRC annual report.
1:43:02 PM Rep. Penas assumes the gavel.
1:46:16 PM Rep.Hackbarth resumes the gavel.
1:48:05 PM Minnesota Logger Education Program (MNLEP), Executive Director, Dave Chura, presented an overview of the MNLEP education program.
1:53:49 PM Questions were from the committee were posed to the presenter.
1:54:41 PM Minnesota Timber Producers Association, Executive Vice President, Wayne Brandt, explained the shift in ownership of paper mills and current forest industry perspectives.
2:06:51 PM Minnesota Forestry Association, President, Bruce Zumbahlen, presented information regarding private forest management and insect and disease concerns.
2:11:27 PM The Chair made an announcement about the next meeting.
2:13:47 PM The meeting was adjourned.
