MINUTES


Representative Tim Wilkin, Chairman of the Commerce and Financial Institutions Committee, called the twenty-seventh meeting to order at 12.45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2005, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Clerk noted the roll.

A quorum was present.


HF1583 (Meslow) Membership travel contracts regulated.


Rep. Soderstrom moved that HF1583 be recommended to pass and be sent to the General Register.

Rep. Soderstrom incorporated the following changes to the H1583A1 amendment:

Page 1, Line 12, delete everything after “13”.
Page 1, delete lines 12-13.

Rep. Soderstrom moved to incorporate the H1583A1 amendment, as amended, to HF1583.

The motion prevailed. The amendment was adopted.


Rep. Meslow presented HF1583.

Testifying on behalf of HF1583:

Brian Dackendorf, Office of the Attorney-General.

Rep. Soderstrom renewed her motion that HF1583, as amended, be recommended to pass and be sent to the General Register. The motion prevailed.

HF759 (Mahoney) Crane operator certification and regulation required and civil penalties authorized.


Rep. Davids moved that HF759 be recommended to pass and be sent to the General Register.

Rep. Davids moved to incorporate the A05-0574 delete-all amendment to HF759.

The motion prevailed. The amendment was adopted.


Rep. Mahoney presented HF759.

Testifying in favor of HF759:

Joe Herzog, Crane Operator.

Rep. Davids renewed his motion that HF759 be passed, as amended, and sent to the General Register. The motion prevailed.


HF471 (Atkins) Customer sales or service call center requirements imposed, and criminal penalty imposed.


Rep. Atkins moved that HF471 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Public Safety Policy & Finance Committee.

Rep. Atkins moved to incorporate the S0776-1 amendment to HF471.

The motion prevailed. The amendment was adopted.


Rep. Atkins moved to incorporate the A05-0567 amendment to HF471.

The motion prevailed. The amendment was adopted.

HF1914 (Clark) Failure to pay a discharged employee within 24 hours penalty increased, failure to pay benefits or wage supplements penalty modified, and violation of migrant worker payment requirements increased.

Rep. Clark moved that HF1914 be recommended to pass and be sent to the General Register.


Rep. Clark moved to amend HF1914 as follows:

Page 1, Line 23, after “two”, insert “business”.

The motion prevailed. The amendment was adopted.


Rep. Clark presented HF1914.

Rep. Clark renewed her motion that HF1914, as amended, be recommended to pass and be sent to the General Register. The motion prevailed.


Rep. Hamilton moved that the minutes from the meetings of March 31, April 5, April 6 and April 7, 2005, be approved.

The motion prevailed.


The meeting was adjourned at 2.15 pm.
