MINUTES



Representative Jeff Johnson, Chairman of the Civil Law and Elections Committee, called the seventeenth meeting to order at 12:40 PM on Monday, March 21, 2005, in Room B of the State Office Building.

The Clerk noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Pete Nelson moved approval of the March 18, 2005 Civil Law and Elections Committee minutes. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE MINUTES WERE ADOPTED.

Chairman Jeff Johnson moved HF1810 (Holberg), relating to government data practices, be recommended to pass and re-referred to Public Safety.

Chairman Johnson moved amendment A1 be adopted (see attached). THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Holberg presented HF1810.

Testifying in support of HF1810.

Chairman Johnson renewed his motion that HF1810, as amended, be recommended to pass and re-referred to Public Safety. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Chairman Johnson moved HF1406 (Zellers), relating to public safety, be recommended to pass and re-referred to Public Safety.

Chairman Johnson moved amendment A10 be adopted (see attached).

Chairman Johnson moved the following oral amendments (see attached) to the A10 amendment.

Page 3, line 8, after the word "the" insert the word "second"
Page 3, line 13, after the word "delete" cross out "everything after "facilities" and insert ""transfers of individuals"

Chairman Johnson incorporated the changes into the amendment.

THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED

Representative Zellers presented HF1406.

Chairman Jeff Johnson moved HF1507 (Abeler) relating to health, be recommended to pass and re-referred to Jobs and Economic Development Committee.

Representative Abeler presented HF1507.

Chairman Johnson renewed his motion that HF1507, as amended, be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Jobs and Economic Development.

Chairman Jeff Johnson moved HF952 (Finstad) providing for grants related to positive abortion alternatives, be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Health Policy Committee.

Chairman Johnson moved amendment 952A8 be adopted (see attached).

THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Brod requested a roll-call vote on the passage of HF952.
