MINUTES


Representative Jeff Johnson, Chair of the Civil Law and Elections Committee called the thirty-second meeting to order at 12:35 p.m. March 13, 2006 in the Basement Hearing Room, State Office Building, St. Paul, MN.

The Clerk noted the roll.

A quorum was not present at 12: 35 p.m.

Representative Smith Discussed HF 2656.

A quorum was present at 12:37 p.m.

Representative Emmer moved approval of the minutes of March 8, 2006. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Chair Johnson moved HF 2656 to pass and be placed on the General Register.

HF 2656 (Smith) Fourth Judicial District Family Court referee orders appeal provided directly to the Court of Appeals.

Testifying before committee on HF 2656:

James T. Swenson, Presiding Judge, 4th Judicial District;
Michael D. Dittberner, American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

Chair Johnson renewed his motion that HF 2656 pass, and be placed on the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Chair Johnson Moved HF 2576 to pass and be placed on the General Register.

HF 2576 (Knoblach) Local governments prohibited from adopting ordinances which prevent employees from cooperating with federal immigration authorities.
