Tuesday, March 7, 2017

ST. PAUL, MN—On Tuesday, Governor Mark Dayton signed House File 30 into law meaning that for the first time in state history, liquor stores will have the option to be open on Sundays beginning July 2, 2017 between the hours of 11AM and 6PM. The bill passed with overwhelming bipartisan support in the House and Senate. Chief Author of HF30 Rep. Jenifer Loon, R-Eden Prairie, and House Speaker Kurt Daudt, R-Crown, released the following statements regarding this historic legislation.

“The final step to repeal our state’s antiquated Sunday sales ban took place today, and beginning in July, liquor stores will have the option to serve their customers on Sundays," said Rep. Jenifer Loon. "Thank you to Governor Dayton for signing my bill into law, my legislative colleagues who supported the measure, and to the thousands of Minnesotans who advocated for this change and made your voices heard.”

"Just in time for Independence Day, Minnesotans will have the freedom to buy beer and wine on Sunday for the first time in state history beginning July 2nd," added House Speaker Kurt Daudt. "I'm grateful to Rep. Jenifer Loon for her leadership on this issue, and to the thousands of Minnesotans who contacted their legislators and built grassroots support to change this outdated law."
