House Capital Investment Committee completes Northwest Bonding Tour

Thursday, September 23, 2021

St. Paul, MN - Today, the House Capital Investment Committee completed the final leg of their tour of Northwest Minnesota and several suburbs, visiting sites with proposed investments in the regional economy. Toured projects included proposals from colleges and universities, public safety facilities, water treatment plants, community centers, and agency offices.

“No matter where we went this week, a common theme was presented to us - Minnesotans throughout our state are doing incredible work for their communities, but too many are doing so in outdated facilities or without the resources they need to excel,” said State Representative Fue Lee (DFL - Minneapolis), Chair of the House Capital Investment Committee. “Right now, our state is experiencing historically low interest rates and an exceptional bond rating, showing that Minnesota has the means to meet this moment. Not only that, it is also the goal of the committee to ensure that funding plays a significant role in lending a helping hand to those too often left behind when it comes to the benefits of capital investment, while also prioritizing projects that assist in the state’s struggle against climate change.”

The tour was the first of several scheduled for the Capital Investment Committee this year, with tours in the coming weeks focused on the Northeast, Southwest, Southeast, and Metro areas of the state. The committee will be touring projects in these regions during the scheduled weeks:

  • Northeast: Oct. 5-7
  • Southwest: Oct. 19-21
  • Southeast: Nov. 9-10
  • Metro: Nov. 16-18
