Rep. Lippert Approves COVID-19 Response Package of Legislation

Thursday, March 26, 2020

St. Paul, MN– Today, the Minnesota House passed a robust, bipartisan package of legislation aimed at addressing and anticipating the various needs of Minnesotans during the COVID-19 pandemic. State Representative Todd Lippert (DFL – Northfield) voted in favor of the legislation.

“Today, the Minnesota House met in unprecedented fashion to ensure relief and clarity is administered throughout our state,” said Rep. Lippert (DFL – Northfield). “As we buy time for our public health professionals to address COVID-19, it’s important that we’re also delivering resources to Minnesotans who are struggling as a result of the necessary measures implemented to slow and stop the spread of the virus. This bill is a step in the right direction for helping Minnesotans, but much more work remains to be done.”

The legislation passed today includes, among other things, $9 million to the Department of Human Services for food security, $26.5 million for the Emergency Service Grants program to provide shelter for Minnesota’s homeless population, $30 million in one time grants to child care providers, $10 million for small business loans, financial relief for Minnesota’s workers, and the necessary flexibility for state agencies to respond to the pandemic.
