Rep. Wazlawik

Dear neighbors,

First of all, I’d like to wish all of you happy holidays! I hope that you’re enjoying the holiday season and able to spend some quality time with your loved ones.

Happy Holidays

As you prepare to give gifts to family and friends, please consider making a contribution to a charitable cause or two as well. If you’re able to donate time, financial resources, or food and other items, there are many organizations in our community that deserve support. Giving back and helping those who may be experiencing tough times is a great way to spread joy during this time of year.

Arts All Star Award

I recently received the Arts All Star Award from Minnesota Citizens for the Arts! The award was given in recognition of my support for our state’s vibrant arts scene. It’s particularly meaningful because of the wonderful experiences I’ve had being involved in the arts, including choir in middle school, high school, and college; cast/crew in high school musicals; and arts classes beginning in middle school. It’s an honor to be recognized, and I’ll continue to advocate for investing in the arts, particularly arts access and education.

Advocating for EMS Workers and Mental Health Services

Minnesotans deserve and expect fast and affordable first response emergency medical services. However, an estimated 57 million Americans face EMS shortages, and many Minnesota communities rely on volunteers to help out in times of crisis. Earlier this week, I met with EMS workers to learn more about the work they do to keep their communities safe and the challenges they face on the job. I’m looking forward to using what I learned to help find ways for the state to recruit and retain first responders and improve emergency medical services.

My conversations with EMS workers also highlighted the need for high-quality mental health services. Far too many Minnesotans don’t have access to the care they need, particularly in rural areas, and first responders are telling us that this is a big problem in the communities they serve. Addressing this issue will continue to be a top priority for my colleagues and me.

Make Your Voice Heard

It’s hard to believe that the next legislative session is just two months away! I’ve been working hard with fellow community members and legislators, and I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together next year. If you have any questions, ideas, or feedback, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m available at 651-296-3018 and rep.ami.wazlawik@house.mn.

Best wishes for a safe and enjoyable holiday season and a happy new year!

Sincerely,

Ami Wazlawik

State Representative
