Rep. Hanson

Dear neighbors,

Please join me in honoring Rep. Diane Loeffler, a good friend and colleague who passed away this weekend. Rep. Loeffler and I were part of the same class at the Legislature. I was fortunate to work with her on several environmental issues, but she had an impact in many areas during her 15 years of service. She worked tirelessly for the people of northeast Minneapolis and the people of Minnesota, and she will be greatly missed.

I encourage you to read more about Diane and her work here and to remember her extraordinary service to her community and state.

Here’s a brief update on what’s happening at the Capitol and in our community.

Legislative Audit Commission Update

Last Friday, the Legislative Audit Commission voted to reappoint Legislative Auditor Jim Nobles, Deputy Legislative Auditor Christopher Buse, and Deputy Legislative Auditor Judy Randall. That means they’ll serve another six-year term in the Office of the Legislative Auditor, which is responsible for enhancing the effectiveness of state programs and overseeing the Legislature. I look forward to continuing my work with the Legislative Auditor and his Deputies.

DNR Gift Cards Available

Are you looking for unique and meaningful presents for your loved ones? Consider giving them the gift of the great outdoors in the form of a DNR gift card! I championed legislation that allowed the agency to start selling these cards, which can be used for hunting and fishing licenses, DNR gear, and more. More information about DNR gift cards is available here.

Upcoming Events at Dodge Nature Center

Speaking of the great outdoors, Dodge Nature Center is offering several events in the coming months! There are options for Minnesotans of all ages, including hikes, craft baazars, and stargazing. Learn more and register here.

We’re just three months away from the 2020 legislative session. If you have questions or feedback, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Our work here at the Legislature is a collaborative process, and I appreciate your input!

Sincerely,

Rick Hansen

State Representative
